Something I've always known about myself is how much I enjoy taking care of people. The first day of my CNA training, I felt like this is what I was meant to pursue. I happened to fall into caregiving shortly after. I LOVE it! As a CNA, It's difficult to give your 110% to every single one of your residents. With home care, I am definately able to give all that 110% for the client. I have a lot of compassion and I truly care about my clients. I took care of all of his needs in my home until he passed away in 2011. I genuinely love helping others, I applied for my first caregiving job in 2011 not knowing what to expect, but fell absolutely in love with the job. I loved being there for my residents every day/night feeling a great satisfaction with myself after every shift like I made someones day. I understand to some it was just a job, but they could have made the same amount flipping burgers I liked what i did, and that is why I feel I progressed every day. Where to start?! I grew up in a house of pretty much ALL females. I have 4 sisters (me being the oldest) who gave me the opportunities to learn about home care. I have been caring for them since I was about 8 years old. I have had practice with home care and proper communcation through them. Eventually I was able to learn more skills like customer service to my everyday life. I have had experience with sick/disabled family members for periods of time.
