My personality traits that help me be a great caregiver are being Patient Dependability,Trustworthiness,Supportive and most of all Compassionate. What most attracted me to being a caregiver are that I love making a difference in someone's life I also like building cherished Memories most important I enjoy learning from Senior family Members. Personal achievement that I'm proud of is parenthood I have a 16 months old son whom is the lover of my life and I'm leaning new things about being a mom everyday I love being a mother and I'm proud of raising my son alone into a wonderful young man.

I'm a very loving and caring person. I have been working as a caregiver for over 12 years now. I love the one on one time I share with my patients and I always become like family to them. I'm a very hard worker and very dependable.

After a career in dentistry, 15 years as a hygienist, which includes working for the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers. I became her 24/7 caregiver for the next 5 years until her death. My mom had COPD and required oxygen at all times. Alzheimers made that tricky as she had to be reminded (sometimes every few minutes) why there were tubes blowing air in her nose and why she was attached to a machine. Caring for her required many skills; some I had, some I acquired. Skills such as communication, compassion, cleaning, time management, organization, and flexibility were honed. Obervation skills were heightened, and I learned I was both physically and emotionally strong. Patience was key and the Alzheimers Association was incredibly helpful. As I learned about the disease I became better at caring for my mom and both our lives improved! Establishing trust and rapport was not difficult, but doing it every day as if for the first time, required a level of empathy and patience that not everyone can manage. Alzheimers is a progressive disease. As her demensia progressed, I had to become more creative and continue to develop excellent caregiving skills. The experience changed me in many ways. I used to be a chatty Cathy with a gold medal in shopping. Now I understand why we have one mouth but two ears. I am more likely to be found walking with my dogs or feeding squirrels from my deck than wearing out my Visa at Macy's. I discovered life is about the little things. I found a peace, that even in the toughest times, keeps me grateful for every obstacle/challenge that I am lucky enough to experience. I learned that helping people, assisting, easing a worry or a task brings me fulfillment. It really IS better to give than receive. My mom taught me that.

I feel One of my callings is a care giver. I love to help people who need it. It makes so proud n happy to have been of some assistance to get something done.

My love for helping people and interacting with them makes me a great caregiver. I was attracted to being a caregiver when I stated helping my grandma care for my great grandma. I enjoy seeing the look on peoples face after helping them.

I started my career as a caregiver in a nursing home and that is where I received my CNA license. I knew at that time being a caregiver was definitely my calling. I went on to get my medical assistant certifications and LVN degree through Harris Hospital. I have worked as a caregiver for 15 years and would never do anything else. Working with seniors is so rewarding to me and I have worked with dementia through ALS patients and treat all of my patients as if they were my own family. I have wonderful references as well as a great background check. I think it's very important to have background checks and really get to know not only the patient but the family as well. I am a christian woman , I have been married for 29 years. My mother had terminal cancer when I was 24 and after caring for her until she passed away I decided I wanted to help other people. I enjoy helping others have the best quality of life that they can.

I am gentle, patient, understanding, dependable, caring, loving, responsible. I never knew much about caretaking until one day a company called me for an interview. I had no idea how life changing the experience would be. I instantly fell in love with my job. I enjoy being able to build bonds with seniors, I enjoy being around seniors and being able to make their day better as they do mine! They often are treated unhuman like by others, but knowing I give them the chance to feel human again is the best feeling in the world! My personal achievement would have to be the trust I gain with them. It's hard for them to trust people in that state of mind, but luckily I'm one of the ones they can count on and they know it.

I am very hard working, caring, outgoing, Christian who works hard. Since I was 18, I have been a caregiver, not including babysitting family members. I started off at Childtime with children and infants and loved it, was there for a few years, then moved to Brookdale to help and assist the elderly. I was there for sometime. I am very dependably and compassionate, it takes a special person to help take care and provide for others. I enjoyed listening to everyone's stories and knowing I was helping them in a positive way.
