I believe my most useful qualities in this role are patience and kindness. My role as a Caregiver I must be a good listener and empathetic conversationalists. I genuinely enjoy listening to my clients life stories, each one has a unique story of their life, and they usually love to share. I am detail-oriented, diligent problem solvers and I have technical medical skills to apply to patients as needed.

I've always felt like caregiving has been my calling. Ever since I can remember I've always had the need to help. If it was a friend or a complete stranger that I encountered on the side of the street. I find extreme happiness in providing a sense of relief to patients and their family's. My mom was diagnosed with psoriatic RA about 15 years ago. She fell very ill in 2017 and had to be hospitalized for a few months. At the beginning stages of her stay some of the providers weren't very kind to her. It made me feel very uneasy, like all control was out of my hands. A few weeks into her stay, the staffing changed and a brand new batch of providers came in. To say that I was relieved is an understatement. Being able to go home after our visits knowing that she was in great care gave me a feeling that I can't describe. This is the feeling that I strive to provide with each family that I come into contact with. A few of my most notable personality traits are that I'm compassionate, patient, understanding and find the joys out of the smallest things in life.

I started my journey as a caregiver earlier in life when volunteered in high school at the local Hospice center. I did not know then that I would come to love and enjoy helping people as much as I do. It took a while to get my foot in the door, but I found a lovely family in Florida that gave me the opportunity to assist their father, whom I cared for for years. Now that I've moved to NY. I'm finding new opportunities to help people again. Through volunteering at church, or lending a helping hand, it brings me so much joy to help others.

As a caregiver I like to be able to engage with my clients to make them feel very comfortable and relaxed. I got interested to become a caregiver after being inspired by how my mom cared for others and in turn being able to care for her during her prolonged illness.
