If interested, I'll supply adult coloring books along with colored pencils, markers and crayons as well as other activity books. I find these activities very calming, inspirational and just plain fun! It gives them something to look forward to. This can turn an ordinary day into an extra ordinary one! Since I am a Companion, I'm a very good listener. The elderly has a lot of wisdom to offer. I enjoy listening to their stories and being of service in this way. Since my position is medical, I assist with medication reminder, maintain good hygiene of the patient, helping the patient gain their basic motor functions, developing good relations with the patient and family, preparing food, being available during emergencies, & running all medical errands for the patient.

Ive been a caregiver/CNA/GNA for over 8 years and being able to not only help people with normal day to day activities but becoming a companion and to some family, is what truly makes my job special and worth doing every day. I've had the opportunity to work in many settings including nursing homes working with rehab, long term, and dementia residents to working in private home settings with patients who need complete care or with ones who just need medicine or doctors appt reminders, help with housekeeping & cooking, or companionship. Hi! I'm Candice. I have been a caregiver for over 20 years. At age 16, I started my first job as a caregiver at an assisted living. I recall feeling intimidated at first but by the end of my shift I realized I really enjoyed helping the seniors I was caring for. Being a caregiver is something I've carried with me ever since. My name is Chyna Mitchell, I am 23 years old, and I live in Long Island New York. Most people describe me as an " easygoing firecracker", meaning I carry a soft personality which is ironic because I'm always up for a challenge. Which brings me into the next topic, my career. I've been doing home care since I was just 15 years old! I'd shadow my mother's work when she'd have cases of her own getting to be hands on with clients that she'd grown close and trustworthy relationships with. Ever since then I've had the most humbling experiences getting to know each of my clients through all different ways of care, most importantly through my number one personal rule: COMPASSION AND COMPANIONSHIP! the 2 c's of which maintaining those qualities can do a lot to someone's mental which can affect them physically as well. I've always valued the blessing of someone who has a nurturing spirit and thankfully I picked mine up from my mother and always used it for good, helping the people I care about/community/clients.

I am a very personable, easy going female with a great attitude friendly, and very down to earth who loves to sing and hum while working. Extremely easy to get along with whether it be as a team or individual position. I'm compassionate and courteous at all times. I take my caregiver position's very seriously and enjoy what I do for a living. There is no greater reward than walking into work and receiving a big smile from the client. when I was young my father passed from cancer. I remember going to see him everyday and noticing other patients would be there all day and not receive one visitor. I thought to myself, no one should live this way. No one should die alone. I'm a caregiver by Nature. I have two sons. My oldest is about to graduate college. I became a Caregiver because I love helping people and their family. Ever since i was young i helped take care of my disabled sister and occasionally my grandmother. It felt good knowing that what i did made a difference in the lives of others and that i can make a change even in small ways. What i like most about my career is my relationship that i hold with the individuals that i have taken care of over the years, i also meet new people and they share their experiences with me. Getting my nursing assistant license and working at a nursing home for some time were some accomplishments that i was proud of. I am currently attending college and looking for part time work.
