I have been in the medical field for about 10 years, working as a CNA, i've worked long term care, rehabilitation, assisted living, private duty home, hospice care and i love what I do! I have always found joy in being able to help others who may not have the ability to help themselves. The feeling you get with knowing you helped someone and made their day and life better is unmatched. I have worked within the home healthcare field for close to 18 years. Working with the disabled I'll and elderly has been my passion. I am not just a caregiver but a friend and often like a member of the family. I worked as a companion care and a home health aide while living in Michigan before moving to Oklahoma and obtaining my certification as a nursing assistant, home health assistant and long term care assistant. Following my certification I became an employee of St. John's medical center of Tulsa where I worked on the stroke unit for 3 of the nearly five years I was employed there before transferring to the woman's surgical outpatient unit where I worked until i decided, due to personal reasons that can be explained during interviewing, to resign and work as a contracted in home care provider.

I love helping others in there time of need. I like working with families to help them with family members, so they can relax and still enjoy life with no worries. I have been a private caregiver for over 20 years I am happy and very good at what I do.

I've helped my mother who passed away with cancer. I took care of my grandmother who passed away, and I recently lost a client the I had grown to love very much. I believe I am a good caregiver because I have a deep understanding and appreciation for what it's like to go from being independent and taking care of oneself 100% of the time, to needing help with the most basic of necessities. My desire to become a caregiver is rooted in my experience with my father who battled cancer for five years. I ultimately became his caregiver and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. What I enjoyed or like the most about being a caregiver is helping people and making a positive difference in a client's life. I would have to say balancing caring for my terminally ill dad and caring for my own family and working a fulltime job. Just being able put my own needs aside and making adjustments to my life and caring for my dad 100%.

I have always had a love for our Senior Citizens since I was young, my Grandma worked at Bristol Nursing Home for 34 years, she would take me to pass out treats to the Residents, from then on I knew I would work with them. It is the best feeling to know that you are helping someone have a better quality of life even if it is just with you presence or helping them shower or with a meal or simply having a chat with them, after all its much better to give than to recieve.

I started out as a SRNA from 2001-2003. Then in 2015 I knew I wanted to get back into caring for the elderly. So I became a caregiver. I absolutely love what I do! I enjoy talking and getting to know my clients. I always loved spending time with my grandparents when I was little, so I knew I would love being a caregiver. I feel that it's a very rewarding career. I normally work 12 hours (8a-8p). I love to work as many hours that I can. I believe that it helps Alzheimer's clients need to see the same face so that they can get comfortable with you.
