I worked for a year and a half as a home health aide with my 40 hour certificate . Took a break to focus on school , I recently went back to school to obtain my 75 hour home health aide certificate , I have several CEU'S including HIV/AIDS, DOMESTIC ABUSE, FALL PREVENTION , CPR, and Alzheimer's . I have a wide range of experience from children with disabilities to hospice care . I use to go to work for a check , then I broke my ankle and couldn't walk for tow months , I depended on someone to do everything for me and it left me feeling like I was a burden . The second I went back to work I had a greater appreciation for my job and my client . I gave them my all , I assured them their perfect and its my pleasure to be here for you , helping you helps me. I instantly saw the change in them , they felt comfortable with me we had an understanding I was there to help you and make your life easier , not to judge you but to uplift and reassure you I was there because its my calling .

Patience. Those who provide home care to others need to be patient. Being patient means that the person understands that there may be changes in plans, things may not go as quickly as planned, and there may be a little hesitation at times on the part of the person receiving care. Compassion. When someone has compassion for another they have an understanding of what the person is going through. Attentiveness. It is important when providing home care that the caregiver is attentive to the needs and changes that are taking place. By being attentive, the caregiver will notice when there are emotional or physical changes in the person he or she is caring for. Dependability. Those who need home care don't usually just need it sporadically. Rather it is on a regular basis, so it is imperative that a caregiver be dependable and show up to provide the care that the person needs and is counting on. Trustworthiness. Caregivers are often in a position that will allow them to have access to the belongings of the person they are caring for. It is crucial that the caregiver be someone who is trustworthy and will not breach that trust by taking advantage of the person he or she is caring for. By showing both empathy and compassion caregivers will let the person they are caring for know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help. The decision to choose others over yourself, to show mercy, to choose quality over quantity of life, and to send the message that "I am here for you," these things are the ultimate expression of love. It isn't easy, but it is commendable. You are part of something bigger than yourself. Celebrate it. Embrace it. Went back to college in Medical Field accomplished long term goals to short term goals.

What attracted me most to being a caregiver was that no matter if you are volunteering at a local hospital or nursing home or if you are a doctor trying to find the cure for cancer, we all have one thing I'm common, we make a difference. I spent many years working as a CNA in a couple different nursing homes over the years and although I absolutely loved my job, I didn't care for the way a lot of the aides treated the residents because the workload was too much. This is what lead me to home care. I could do the work I loved with more one on one personalized care.

I started working as a caregiver in 1989 and have worked many positions in the healthcare field. I have worked in facilities, in home, dietary. My most difficult client would have been my mother. I cared for her 24/7 for five years till she passed away.
