I became a caregiver after spending a couple of years helping care for my great grandmother who suffered from dementia. Although it was hard emotionally, I found that it was soul satisfying to be useful and help her through some of the most difficult times of what should have been her golden years. What I like most about being a caregiver is the ability to make a difference in someone's life. I feel a sense of a joy when I connect with someone I'm helping. My fulfillment is knowing that I'm more than an employee but a friend and companion. I'm compassionate, reliable, fun, detail oriented, hard working, patient and most of all...I love what I do!

Hello, My grandmother fell ill about 2012, and this prompted me to start helping her out. She has always been a huge part of my life and to see her helpless really hurt me. I decided to help her out as much as I could and took on the role as her caregiver. I provided her meals and helped with transportation. I also ran errands for her and massaged sore parts of her body. I would also administer medication for her and remind her of her need to take her medicine. I would also just provide her with companion care. Listen to her stories and make her laugh. It really made me realize how special the elderly are and how there needs to be more people with a compassionate heart to take care of them.

I became a Caregiver after helping and assisting my closes friend grandmother. When I saw how the elders have been taken advantage of, it really made me want to work with and for them. I like the joys and gratitude that they reflect when they see someone taking the the time out with them. It makes me feel good. My personal achievement of which I'm very proud of was helping out one of my clients after hip surgery. I helped her transition back to walking and getting around on her own. Based on all the things I did around her home and for her personally, really helped her recover quickly. I've witnessed 1st hand on how inconsiderate and careless these CNA's and other medical staff can be towards patients, after being in a rehabilitation facility for 3 months. I was helpless and in need, but was neglected and ignored. I told myself that at any chance I get, I will help out someone whose not in physical shape/fit to do for their self...I consider myself to be loving and loyal. I'm a trustworthy parent of two kids. I'm more then patient with others and always willingly to help. I'm a hardworking, highly motivated, and self-initiated individual who takes pride in great work. Rather its transporting or care-giving or even just holding a basic conversation. A pleasant attitude followed by a smile can go a long way!

I became a caregiver because I care, I love providing home caregiving services to those that would otherwise not be able to do so. The smile on their faces is overwhelming and makes me feel I have done my job right. I have always enjoyed helping people so I know I am doing the right thing.

Hello, I became a caregiver at an early age. I give care to my mother from age thirteen until mother my mother passed in April 2006. Basically, my mother was very depressed when my oldest brother was presumed missing in action in the Vietnam War. Sadly, after the funeral I remember she was not herself for a long time. Although I was young, and didn't quite understand; I still had to help my mother in her time of distress. Let me be totally honest, I didn't like the fact that I had to take care of my mother all the time, but when I look back over my life, that was only the beginning of who I would become today. My sole purpose for being a caregiver is to give back what everyone need when they are on a rough road at that given time in life. Clients need someone who really desire and love being a servant to other peoples personal needs. As a caregiver, I am very happy when I know that I have done the best that I can and leave with a good consequence about the service that I have given to my clients. However, what I am also proud of-- when I have completed a job for a client then, later I get a call from a former employer referring me to work with someone they know. My name is Merika I'm 23 years old. I'm from Lake Charles ,Louisiana. Nurses ,RNs and etc runs in my family. My dad was a Rn and my mother was a CNA. I grow up caring for others. Its in my blood to help others who are not able to help themselves. I feel no one should be singled out for who they are and everyone deserves love and care.I have been a Provider for 6 years. I became a caregiver after realizing how rewarding it is to help others who are unable to help themselves. I began volunteering at a hospital and my position in patient relations required that I visit hospital patients and ask non-medically related questions. Small things like reading glasses, a warm blanket, cold water, or their favorite magazine could really make a patient's day when they're in the hospital. It warmed my heart and encouraged me to look into care giving. I particularly like helping elderly individuals. I've always had a "soft spot" for older individuals, even as a young girl, and I have a great deal of respect for them. A little over two years ago, I began my life-long dream of attending college and I am currently 50% complete toward my Bachelor's in Human Services. My goal is to become a geriatric counselor, so I'm already looking into Master's programs. Being a caregiver is giving me hands on training in this field. An important part of being a caregiver is not only am I helping the client, but I am also helping their families by providing a respite for them. I know firsthand how stressful caring for a family member is because I was the person in charge of my father prior to his passing 8 years ago. It can be overwhelming not only physically but emotionally and mentally as well. When I hear the appreciative comments from my client, their family, or my employer, it is confirmation that I'm in the right field.

I became a caregiver because I grew up with my grandparents. When I was 13 my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer. He fought it, but eventually it came around again when I was 16. Things turned to the worst and he was bed rested. I took care of him for 3 years seeing that my grandma couldn't do much and we wanted him home not in a hospital. After he passed, I thought about a career in something I know in love. Helping people who can't help themselves. I love being able to offer companionship. Just talking to someone can brighten their day up. I am mostly proud of being able to put others needs before my own. I was offered a full scholarship ship to the University of Arizona, I didn't take it that year because my grandpa was so sick.

I am currently a mom of three. I work part time at first health Moore regional as a phlebotomist . I am also a registered with the state of North Carolina EMT as well as a state registered CNA . starting the fall I will be starting nursing School I am mate basically looking to do drop in care in the evenings from 3 to 8 PM and pretty flexible in the evenings.

1. I became a caregiver in 2005, when my mother became terminally ill, I provided can for her for 3 years prior to her passing. At that time I developed a new desire to assist individuals that need personal care. As well as my daughter having several major surgeries in the course of 8 years. 2.
