I am the 40 year old wife, and mother of 2 beautiful teenage girls. I have been working as a caregiver for over 6 years, and have been Certified for 5 years. I am currently a self employed Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been employed at a skilled nursing facility as well as an assisted living facility. I also specialize in private care. Some of my skills include bathing, showering, checking and changing undergarments, providing proper hygiene, ambulating, transfers, mouthcare, feeding, light housekeeping, meal preperation, transportation and much more. Also activities may involve risks of serious injury if the client is not able to physically perform. I became a caregiver back in 2007 when I was a CNA. My certification has expired because two years I forgot to pay the recertification. But I become one because I love to take care of people no matter the age. I wanted to take care of my grandmother but everyone at that time said that I was too young in which I was. So I knew from here on out that I could take care of the ones who needed help the most. I became a caregiver after spending a couple of years helping care for my great grandmother who suffered from dementia. Although it was hard emotionally, I found that it was soul satisfying to be useful and help her through some of the most difficult times of what should have been her golden years. Hello, My grandmother fell ill about 2012, and this prompted me to start helping her out. She has always been a huge part of my life and to see her helpless really hurt me. I decided to help her out as much as I could and took on the role as her caregiver. I provided her meals and helped with transportation. I also ran errands for her and massaged sore parts of her body. I would also administer medication for her and remind her of her need to take her medicine. I would also just provide her with companion care. Listen to her stories and make her laugh. It really made me realize how special the elderly are and how there needs to be more people with a compassionate heart to take care of them.

I became a Caregiver after helping and assisting my closes friend grandmother. When I saw how the elders have been taken advantage of, it really made me want to work with and for them. I like the joys and gratitude that they reflect when they see someone taking the the time out with them. It makes me feel good. My personal achievement of which I'm very proud of was helping out one of my clients after hip surgery. I helped her transition back to walking and getting around on her own. Based on all the things I did around her home and for her personally, really helped her recover quickly. I've witnessed 1st hand on how inconsiderate and careless these CNA's and other medical staff can be towards patients, after being in a rehabilitation facility for 3 months. I was helpless and in need, but was neglected and ignored. I told myself that at any chance I get, I will help out someone whose not in physical shape/fit to do for their self...I consider myself to be loving and loyal. I'm a trustworthy parent of two kids. I'm more then patient with others and always willingly to help. I'm a hardworking, highly motivated, and self-initiated individual who takes pride in great work. Rather its transporting or care-giving or even just holding a basic conversation. A pleasant attitude followed by a smile can go a long way!

Hello, I became a caregiver at an early age. I give care to my mother from age thirteen until mother my mother passed in April 2006. Basically, my mother was very depressed when my oldest brother was presumed missing in action in the Vietnam War. Sadly, after the funeral I remember she was not herself for a long time. Although I was young, and didn't quite understand; I still had to help my mother in her time of distress. Let me be totally honest, I didn't like the fact that I had to take care of my mother all the time, but when I look back over my life, that was only the beginning of who I would become today. My sole purpose for being a caregiver is to give back what everyone need when they are on a rough road at that given time in life. Clients need someone who really desire and love being a servant to other peoples personal needs. I became a caregiver after realizing how rewarding it is to help others who are unable to help themselves. I began volunteering at a hospital and my position in patient relations required that I visit hospital patients and ask non-medically related questions. Small things like reading glasses, a warm blanket, cold water, or their favorite magazine could really make a patient's day when they're in the hospital. It warmed my heart and encouraged me to look into care giving. I particularly like helping elderly individuals. I've always had a "soft spot" for older individuals, even as a young girl, and I have a great deal of respect for them.
