I am a 27 year old female in the Charlotte area. I have a full time job as a support coordinator/QP for an agency that works with individuals with IDD. I have been in this role/position for almost 2 years. I have been a caregiver since 2018. I am working on my doctorates in Healthcare administration. I am looking to complete services part time Monday -Thursday 4p-9p. I am actively a mentor on the weekends. I was drawn to caregiving because I have a natural desire to help others and make a positive difference in their lives. I became a care giver because as a child my aunt always accepted in her home individuals whose parents abandoned them due to them not being able to care for them. We were responsible for their daily living which included bathing, dressing, feeding and all Activities of Daily Living. I am proud of my input in their lives to make their days more cheerful. My 25 years of working within this community of caring and sharing I have been able to make achievements which elevated me into the higher level of Day Program Director increasing the number of individuals from 10 to 100 and continuing to elevate in both care and community involvement for each individual served.

I became a caregiver because of a personal experience I had taking care of my dad, who eventually died a few years back. My experience with him made me more cautious in taking care of others and attendin to their needs with a passion. I love music and I am very patient.

I have a strong background in the healthcare field from working as a companion to working at the hospital to nursing homes. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me great joy to help others. You never know when you might need someone so it's best to always treat others with kindness and compassion. I became a caregiver about 8 years ago when my uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. I enjoyed assisting him with daily tasks, and just knowing that before he passed away he thanked me for just being there for him, gives me great joy and the motivation to continue helping others. That alone was the greatest achievement throughout my care giving career. I hope that I can touch all of the lives that I come in contact with.
