I have a hard time watching people struggle with things, so I tend to help others when I see them struggling. Being a parent has taught me to take a step back to be more patient and understanding. My main strength is my ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. By being able to communicate effectively, I am able to be more clearly understand not only what patients are needing, but how I can effectively assist them. This ensures I do the right thing the first time and there are no miscommunication problems.

Hi my name is Latonya I have been a caregiver for over 20 years now, I have worked in Hospice, home health, and Private care, I have worked with clients who have had ALS as well as cancer patients. what makes me a good caregiver: I listen and have an understanding heart, also I'm a talker and most clients I have had love to talk, so we always get along well. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is the connections I have with the client as well as the family, What I have learned thru my years of caregiving is that the families also need support and a listening ear. Caregiving has been my passion for years and I love what I do and I do it with a loving heart and I'm always professional.

Caregiving came to me naturally in my younger years and I believe God has placed natural talents and gifts in all of us. I enjoy working with people and take my work seriously. I count it an honor to serve others and I hold myself accountable for the care I give others even how I communicate and relate to my clients and their families. I really do enjoy being a caregiver because I love to encourage others and to lift their hearts where I can. (I also believe that what goes around comes around and one day I may need someone to care for me and encourage me.) I am very proud of working in a hospital, learning to train the nursing staff on safety and patient handling techniques. I am now a single mom with children grown and living very productive lives. I am not married any longer so I have to restrictions on my time. I do prefer to work night shifts because I did this for many years as a single mom. (child care for 3 was cheaper this way so I have become accustom to working nights.) I do have very strong references upon request.

What makes me a great caregiver; compassion, love, patients. kindness, and most of all, I am a grandchild, and a child to two parents that showed me lots of love, therefore I am able to pass it on. I also have elderly grand parents that lives overseas, that I don't get to see as often, but speak to all the time. I'm happy to know that they are being taken care of well, by sounding family members. I just don't look at my clients as a job, but as a family member, and would treat them the say way I would want my grand parents to be treated, with care, love, and respect. That's why I am a great caregiver. To add to it, I'm out going, and love to have a good laugh. What I enjoy about care giving, the interaction I have with my clients. The amazing stories from their past, that made them who they are, the history, and traditions that they passed on to the younger generation. A personal achievement of mines, that I am proud of, being the first one to graduate college on my paternal side of the family.

Hi my name is Tammy and I have lived in this area for 46 years. I am a people person and currently care for people from kindergarten to 90 years old. I love people. I started caregiving between my 8th and 9th grade year of school when my mom got very sick. The caregiving I took on at that age was wound care, personal care, companionship, housekeeping, and cooking so I have been at this for a moment. I have been a 24/7 caregiver or family members and work 24-hour shifts with clients because it's not about me and my needs it's about my clients and their needs in order to get them to a better place in life. I would say now looking back I am proud that my mom is my first client.

Communication is key, along with encouragement, patience, and creative problem-solving skills. Growing up as a child, I helped my grandmother with her medical needs and that is what inspired me to get in the medical field. Caring for other people makes me feel valued. I have wonderful relationships with my clients. While I am doing their ironing or washing the floor, we're laughing and chatting. They enjoy telling me their stories, sometimes from years ago and I get pleasure from listening to them. Personal achievements that I am proud of are having an associates and bachelors degree in the medical sciences field.

I have been working in the healthcare field for more than 40 years, and I love what I do. I like meeting new people, helping them care for their needs, and to reach their healthcare goals. I started to work in the healthcare field as a summer job, and I have enjoyed it ever since. I would like to introduce myself as a candidate for the Caregiver position at Josephine Gardner' Home. As a highly empathetic and caring individual with extensive experience in the caregiving field, I am confident that I can succeed as a Caregiver for Jojo, I also provided home health care for a rotation of 10 patients per week At Aloha care ( Hawaii ) five days a week. My responsibilities included light housework, giving baths, preparing small snacks, reading to patients, helping them around the house, helping patients use the restroom, providing companionship, keeping track of appointments, and feeding patients. I am very passionate about the well-being of my patients. I believe that the elderly are a valuable and important generation, full of wisdom and knowledge and that they need to be cared for and protected. During my young years, I served as a primary caregiver for my grandmother. As a frail woman in her late 80s , she needed a lot of assistance with most day-to-day functions. Since I was there more than my parents, who both worked full-time, I took it upon myself to be her caregiver. The more time I spent with her, the more I realized that although her body may not function, her mind was an ocean of stories and wisdom, waiting to be explored. I had a very close relationship with my grandmother who I lived with for the first 12 years of my life. I enjoyed spending time with her and other elderly members of my family. I thought being a caregiver would be something I would enjoy doing because I am a very patient person who understands and appreciate spending time with and caring for the elderly. I especially enjoy listening to the stories and advise of the elderly. It was very satisfying for me to be able to use the skills I acquired to care for my mother who had Alzheimer's disease.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I am passionate, considerate, sympathetic and go above and beyond for my patients. Helping those that aren't able to do for themselves has always been a passion of mine. I do this because I love what I do and they become part of my extended family. Even after my services are over we still stay in contact. Continuing my education in my later years is going to be a big accomplishment for me. Im doing something that will not only make my family proud but it will help others as well.

Making sure all individuals are respected, cared for and treated like human beings. Being able to help others is what attracted me to being a caregiver. I am proud of earning my Basic Nurse Assistant Certification when I lived in Chicago and earning my medication aid license here in Lincoln NE.

I have the capacity to understand what others may not be able to communicate. I am empathetic to others needs and will go above and beyond to help them achieve their needs. My communication skills are excellent even in a non-communicative environment. My passion is elderly and disabled, whether that be mentally or physically. Everyone deserves a fair chance at a good life and I want to help others succeed. I am a very hardworking person as I also have the desire to provide thoroughly for my family as well. I find that elderly and disabled persons flock to me as they feel safe in my presence and know that that isn't always the case for them.
