I love this field of work because I am all about family and keeping family happy. That's my main priority, to keep my family happy and healthy, the same I would do for your family as well.

My name is Shantell McDuffie. I am currently a student at CSN in pursuit of becoming an RN. I enjoy everyday life and the challenges it brings. I have the love and patients that these individuals need.I take care of sick ,injured,and disabled people under the directions of a physician.Taking vitals signs such as temperatures,blood pressure,pulse,and resporation.Treat bedsoars,collect samples for testing,feed patients and fluid intake and output.Bathing,dressing,and personal hygiene.Help evaluate residents needs,develope care plans,take to emergency room,doctors appointments.

1.I decided to become a caregiver after my grandmother died I often the only person to visit her and she would teach me how to take care of her diabetes and arthritis as a child. Working as Massage Therapist and having my own business a few years ago gave me the opportunity to meet many people in my community and offer the highest quality of service to my customers. My passion to help the ones in need grew tremendously and this is how the opportunity to help the elderly was presented to me. Kindness, Patience, Understanding and of course a loving intention to help someone are the characteristics need it for this job.

My focus on safety and nurturing nature allows me to help boost resident morale and help them maintain dignity in times of distress. I have worked with disabled adults for more than 3 years at Flower Mound Assisted Living and strongly feel that my background would serve me well in working with residents in need of rehabilitative or general care. My dedication to delivering top-notch care and compassion to every individual I serve is evidenced.

When my son got hurt in 2010 and spent a month in the hospital, I knew I wanted to go into the medical field and give back the care that my son was given. Being a caregiver is not just about providing excellent care, for me it is also about maximizing my patients independence. I am very proud to say that I have achieved my senior rehab specialist certificate. I am not just a caregiver, I also have extensive training in the neuro rehab and mental health field and that is where my passion is. I have experience with adults with brain injuries and mental/physical disabilities as well as children with autism and brain injuries. It is my goal to get these patients that depend on others and teach them to be as independent as possible.

I became a Caregiver after seeing my mother care for the elderly,and seeing the compassion and love she showed towards them. I decided at the age of 12 that was what i wanted to do in life. I enjoy seeing their reactions and knowing that i made a difference in their lives. My personal achievement is when a participant came up to me one day and said she watches me everyday and i always have a smile on my face and that i showed love to everyone and she goes home and talk about me to her family and she told me that is what the world needs more people like me. I truly believe being a caregiver is my calling in life. I have tried working on other jobs,but i felt a void in my life. I am a very compassionate person with over 20 years working with the elderly population.

Its my passion to take care elderly people. And i love spending time with my patient because i treated them as my family. Im a very passionate, hardworking and very easy to be with. I can work under pressure and even without supervision.
