At college I am the president of a Student organization for students on the autism spectrum. I have high functioning autism myself and due to this I am very passionate about working with those with disabilities. Hi there, My name is Lottie. I have been a caretaker for children and adults for 25 years. I enjoy being there for others in very delicate times of their life. Giving family members peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are not alone is very rewarding. Over the last 25 years I have taken care of not only immediate family members but also, very close friends. Most recently I worked for Halcyon Health Care caring for patients and giving them companionship. My most recent patient was 90 yrs. old. I get great satisfaction knowing I contribute to my patients quality of life when life becomes challenging for them.

I decided to become a caregiver to gain more experience and see what other options are out there because initially i wanted to major in Nursing. I like that you develop a relationship with an elderly , which makes it more personal and enjoyable. I enjoy that it's flexible with your schedule. Another aspect is that you are literally making a difference in a seniors life , just by giving your time to cook and clean and also talking to them. It definitely give you a different outlook on life. I'm proud of graduating and now being in college to achieve my goal of one day working in a job that I will love. I'm 20 years old and like learning how to cook and also working out on my spare time. I'm also currently unemployed but have worked in caregiver position for about 3 months since I moved into the area.
